About
Rock n Road Group CIC
Not everyone gets the same start.
Rock N Road exists to change that.

Across Wolverhampton, there are young people who want to learn music but never get the chance. Lessons cost money. Instruments cost money. If your family can’t afford either, you’re locked out before you even start. Rock N Road was created to make sure that money is never the reason someone doesn’t get to play.

Rock N Road is a Wolverhampton-based community music project providing free guitar and bass lessons and real access to instruments for young people aged 10–25 who would otherwise go without. There are no fees, no subscriptions, and no expectation that learners already know what they’re doing. If you’re willing to turn up and give it a go, we’ll meet you halfway.
We remove barriers in practical ways. Lessons are free. Instruments are loaned from day one so learners can practise at home straight away. Once commitment is shown, guitars are gifted to keep. This approach makes sure support goes to young people who genuinely want to learn, while also making the most of donated and funded equipment.

Sessions currently run from a private home studio in Wolverhampton, providing a safe, focused space to learn. As funding grows, Rock N Road plans to develop a dedicated garage studio and deliver outreach sessions in schools, youth hubs and community spaces across the city, reaching young people who may never walk into a traditional music lesson.

Rock N Road is about more than learning chords or scales. It’s about confidence, routine, belonging and having something positive to build towards. Music gives young people a sense of identity, a way to express themselves, and a reason to keep showing up. Learners are supported properly, encouraged to practise, and recognised for commitment and progress.

The project is led by a Wolverhampton-based musician with over 20 years’ playing and teaching experience, including professional recording and performance. Rock N Road operates as a Community Interest Company, meaning all income and funding is reinvested directly into lessons, instruments, safeguarding and opportunities for local young people.
Rock N Road isn’t about creating stars. It’s about giving people a fair start, a skill they can carry for life, and a place where they feel they belong.
